The GMX Twiflex series disc brake calipers are similar to the MX range calipers but offer larger surface pads. The GMX25, GMX30 and GMX40 models are suitable for use with 25.4 mm, 30 mm and 40 mm thick discs respectively. The SGMX caliper is only suitable for use with 25.4 mm thick discs. Minimum diameter of the disc: 610 mm.
The GMX / SGMX clamps can be used with any series of Twiflex actuators and are characterized by a patented equalization mechanism that guarantees uniform wear of the pad.
Normally one or two pliers are used for each disk, but the number may be greater, depending on the size of the disk. The brakes can be positioned at any angle on the circumference of the disc, but the ideal solution would be to mount them horizontally (ie at 3 o'clock and at 9 o'clock). If the mounting angle of the clamp is greater than 10 ° compared to the horizontal line, or in vertical axis applications, it is possible to mount an equalizer arm or a kit for inclined mounting. For the operation of the pneumatic units it is necessary to use filtered, dry and non-lubricated compressed air. Pneumatic brakes require a manually operated control valve or an electric or pneumatic signal.
The performances of the graphs referred to the various configurations are intended to be obtained, with well-run shoes and with a friction coefficient equal to µ = 0.4. Twiflex disc brakes must be used with asbestos-free Twiflex brake pads.
